Karen Hobbs is a retired US Air Force OR nurse who loves all arts and crafts. Her passion for creating has brought knitting, painting, embroidery, paper making, jewelry design, pottery, glass, furniture caning, weaving, and more to her repertoire of talents. She now shares her love of teaching at conventions and retreats through brooms, gourds and basketry. Having found her niche in broom making, she takes every opportunity when traveling the world to seek out other artisans to gain an even greater insight into their craft and the history behind it. Always looking for new challenges through design, Karen constantly adds to her list of broom patterns from primitive to decorative and utilitarian, incorporating natural material with colorful elements. An Arkansas native, Karen lives in Austin, Texas, with her husband, Cisco, and their rescue dogs, Layla and Ivy.
