Dr. Terry Mays holds a PhD from the University of South Carolina and is a professor at The Citadel in Charleston, South Carolina, where he has taught since 1992. He is also a retired US Army lieutenant colonel. Mays has written numerous books, scholarly journal articles, and popular magazine articles on military aviation, including Matterhorn (the B-29 campaign from China and India in WWII) and Nighthawks and Black Widows (13th Air Force night fighters in WWII) for Schiffer Publishing. His military aviation articles have appeared in World War II, Vietnam, and Aviation History magazines, and he delivered a presentation at the Royal Military Academy at Sandhurst in the UK on the British origins behind the development of the American night fighter program in WWII.
