After many years of buildup, Masters of the Air is finally out and available to watch in its entirety. Produced by Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg, MOTA is intended to stand alongside Band of Brothers and The Pacific. The show is based on the book Masters of the Air by Donald L. Miller, which profiles the bomber crews of the US 8th Air Force. Miller’s book was published by Simon & Schuster in 2006. In the publishing world we get very excited about films. Historically, films have helped set trends and generated reader interest not only in specific books but in book genres, with paratrooper books after Band of Brothers and Spartan books after 300 being prime examples. I see that there is a sequel of Gladiator slated to release later this year; maybe I should be on the lookout for books about the legions of Rome!
