Next week, Schiffer will have a booth at the Society for Military History (SMH) conference in Arlington, Virginia. The society describes itself as:
“devoted to stimulating and advancing the study of military history. Its membership (today more than 2700) has included many of the world's most prominent scholars, soldiers, and citizens interested in military history.”
The annual conference is one that I make a great effort to attend on a regular basis. The event brings a rare volume of military historians and scholars into one place. So many like-minded or at least like-interested people coming together generates an enthusiastic, buzzy atmosphere.

In addition to hosting the annual conference, SMH also publishes a newsletter and journal, the latter in particular being a great source of book reviews.
